Ooni Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi of Ife met with prominent leaders from the Southwest on Tuesday to discuss the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo (also known as Sunday Igboho), a Yoruba national and national instigator, at his palace in Ile Ife, Osun state.

Some 30 people reportedly attended the meeting, including Senator Abiodun Olujimi; Akin Osuntoun, former political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Lagos State People’s Democratic Party candidate for Governor Jimmy Agbagh. Oba Francis Arau, vice president of Obama’s Council of State, confirmed the meeting. Alao de Olugbon, who also serves as Orile Igbon, explained that the meeting was originally held to discuss the development of the country, but had to study Igboho’s arrest in depth.

He said: “The essence of our meeting is Ooni Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi from Ife, asking us to go back to our roots and do things the way we use to be successful. In recent years, there have been many problems in this country in terms of politics, economy and society. We want to put things in the right angle. This is the essence of this meeting. Coincidentally, arrest on Sunday was also part of the discussion. We did not ignore this topic, but it was not the main topic we discussed. “Do we need to be at the forefront of what is happening in this country? We will conduct broader consultations to move individuals, groups and others in the right direction.” “We traversed the southwestern states at the meeting. We will have more extensive consultations with the monarch. It’s time for us to get it right…”

Former Oyo State Governor Senator Rashidi Ladoja and former Independent National Election Commission (INEC) National Commissioner Professor Raiolorod also talked about the arrest of Igboho yesterday.
