It has been reported that the Security operatives in Benin Republic have said Sunday Igboho must face a fair trial before listening to the demands of the government.

 

They also insisted that their government won’t accept a request for extradition without first trying Sunday Igboho for the local crime he was arrested for, according to Sahara Reporters.

 

It was eventually revealed that the popular activist was arrested on Monday night in Cadjèhoun Airport, Cotonou with a fake Benin passport while attempting to run away to Germany.

 

The Yoruba nation activist is expected to be arraigned for immigration-based crimes in Benin Republic today July 22 after a planned attempt by the Buhari’s administration to bring him back to Nigeria.

 

It was also reported that Sunday Igboho had also gotten a Rafael Huvehnou, Beninois defense attorney,. He is presently an attorney to the President of the Benin Republic.

 

Igboho may be granted this thursday.

 

 

“We went to court at Cotonou today but they didn’t bring Igboho to court, so we called his lawyer. He was in safe hands at Cotonou Criminal Brigade where he was detained. They will take him to court today.

 

“Igboho has given a statement to the police. He was traveling with a Beninoise passport judged to be fake,” an anonymous source revealed.
